The Glory Of Cross
Loving greetings to the readers of Viswasi in the blessed name of Jesus Christ!
Beloved, if we are heirs to a blessed hope today, it is because of the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Cross is the praise and fame of a Christian. The Cross is the central place of all revelations. The Cross at Calvary is a place where the burden of the sins of the whole human race is laid down.
One of the two thieves crucified along with Jesus Christ did not see the radiance of resurrection. But, he did see the glory of the crucified Christ. This revelation prompted him to plead with Him: “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom”. When Jesus said “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit” and gave up the ghost, the sun was darkened, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom, the earth quaked, the rocks rent and the graves were opened. The centurion who was witness to all this said, “Truly this was the son of God”.
The Cross is the place where the love of God which forgets and denies self to work for the establishment of God’s kingdom and salvation of humanity is revealed. The Cross also unveils the glory of man’s filial relationship with God which is his birthright. The greatness of God’s infinite family is expressed on the Cross. The Cross is central to the correct course of world history.
The fulfillment of God’s purpose can be seen on the Cross of Jesus Christ “whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through the faith in His blood to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God”(Romans 3: 25). Paul’s words in this verse clearly portray the significance of the blood, shed by Christ on the Cross. The Cross is the manifestation of God’s love and righteousness. As sinners, we don’t deserve to be loved; “But, God commendeth His love towards us, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Romans5: 8). Paul while preaching gospel focused on the Cross-“…the Jews require a sign and the Greek seek after wisdom: But, we preach Christ crucified” (1 Corinthians 1:22, 23).
For salvation it is not enough that we have the vision of the Infant Jesus lying in the manger, but, we should have the vision of Christ nailed on the cross. If Israelites who were bitten by the fiery serpents in the deserts were saved by the serpent of brass put on a pole by Moses, then any one made a sinner by the bite of the serpent Satan can get saved by looking at Jesus who was raised on the Cross two thousand years ago. Let us pray that everyone become a member of God’s family by looking at the crucified Jesus Christ.
May the glory of Christ’s Cross fill the whole earth!

A Retrospection of the past Twenty one Years
There were no favorable factors visible to the human eyes, when I came out for full-time missionary work according to the vision I received from God. But, as it were my spiritual eyes which had beheld the vision, the path of growth loomed large before me. Now as I am writing this, Indian Christian Mission (ICM) has travelled 20 years in time on that path. On this occasion, we are grateful to God who has led us in triumphal procession this far. We also thank the children of God who have been wholeheartedly encouraging us in our mission to spread the love of God; we again solicit your continued support to ICM.
There were only a very few people who had said encouraging words to me when I started working with great desire to expand the Gospel work in the arid land of North India, and also my native state, Kerala. A large number of people tried to dishearten me by their harsh criticism. However, as I had been receiving comfort and guidance from God, I did not lose heart. Instead, I encouraged my fellow workers to labor with total commitment for the extension of the Kingdom of God. Today, I reckon the churches and associated activities pioneered by ICM in Delhi, Bihar and Kerala, as the progression of the diligent, hard work done in those initial days.
From what I said here, nobody should perceive that the mission work is progressing in a very smooth manner. The fact is that Christian activities will face tough resistance in this world until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. I have written this in the context of the theory that it would be easier for the enemy to take advantage of the weaknesses of an organization in its fledgling stage; though, it is a historical fact that the church grows faster in the wake of stiff opposition. The survival or rather thriving, of the church amidst adversity is unique. Tribulations and hostilities are in effect the fodder for the growth of Christianity.
The Word ‘triumphal’ does not imply a totally trouble free situation. We can understand this if we observe the life of Apostle Paul. Paul carried out missionary work in the midst of numerous hardships and obstacles but, even in such a situation the Apostle could maintain a positive frame of mind. See, how grateful he is towards God- “But thanks to be God, who always lead us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him” (II Corinthians 2: 14). Elsewhere he had said, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written ‘For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered’. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:35-37). The phrase ‘more than conquerors’ allures to a great victory in a fierce fight. Even though the challenges may be big, God who is with us is far greater than them!
Even today Indian Christian Mission faces a lot of difficulties. But, as the mission has grown overcoming the past hazards, it will also get past the obstructions which may come in future as well. We are inspired by the words of Paul referring to the situations he and his co-workers were in. “We are hard pressed on every side but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (II Corinthians 4:8&9). When we hold onto God’s promise’s and work uncompromisingly, the adversities we face will become blessings in disguise and bring glory to the name of God.
I once again thank God for having experienced God’s mighty protection in the past twenty years of mission work. When it seems that there is no resources left for missionary activities, the promise ‘Jehovah Jireh, has a truly wonderful and practical implication in our day to day lives.

Jesus Christ; Redeemer of Personality
Greetings to all dear friends of Viswasi monthly in the matchless name of Jesus Christ. Let me remind you that God created man as the greatest of all creations in the perfection of holiness, in the fullness of personality and in the highest level of dominion.
God created man a little lower than Him, crowning him with glory and honor. Man was given dominance over all creation. But, sin entered man and broke his relationship with God. We read in Romans 5:12 “as by one man sin entered into the world”. How sin could degrade a man can be understood by looking at the man with an unclean spirit seen in Mark 5:1-16.
He was naked. He had his dwellings among the tombs. He was alive but worse than dead and spiritually he had no standing whatsoever. It was impossible to bind him even with buffers as he plucked the chains as under and broke the buffers in pieces. Nobody could frame him. Night and day, he kept crying and cutting himself with stones. To sum up, he defied all laws of nature, health and society.
Today we can find the same particular state of this man everywhere- a state of no rest and peace. This degeneration in man is brought about by sin. Man’s personality is torn apart by different desires and forces.
This man ran into Jesus and a miracle happened. Jesus confronted with him and by the power of love redeemed him, making him whole by the unification of his divided personality. And look at the change in him .What a great transformation! From the realms of insanity, he was brought back to the world of the sane. Oh, what a tremendous reversal of Situation! And when people saw him sitting at the feet of Jesus clothed and in his right mind they were afraid.
Dear friend, are you in the same condition as the man with the unclean sprit in the Country of the Gardeners? Are you not covered with the cloth of righteousness? Are you not in your right mind? Do you have a name that you are living when you are spiritually dead? Do you do evil works that harm your body? Do you break the laws of nature, health and society? Consequently have you become a man or woman with a torn personality? Look up, Jesus, the redeemer of personality, is approaching you. He that has power over all things will release, lift and redeem you from the depths of diabolic capacity. He will unite your divided personality, clothe you with garment of righteousness and put a sound mind within you. Out of the darkness, you will come into the marvelous light.
